Retail Sales in Ireland : Falls from Peak

Retail sales are a good indicator of the state of the domestic economy. The chart shows the falls, in vol and value terms, for the main categories. Pretty evident that there is still a bleak landscape for Irish retailers
(BTW… on car sales. Why dont auto dealers open later at night, longer on weekend etc. Baffling why they are closed when many people are shopping.)

    When I first visited Ireland some 12 years ago, I could never figure out why estate agents were closed on a Saturday (they even open on a Sunday in some parts of the UK). Then I worked out that anyone in the property business in those days were a law unto themselves.
